SHE WAS A FRANKENGUEST!!!!!! Here are some of the fun photos we took at rehearsal this evening! The kids were great tonight. I am so impressed with them! They got the whole song blocked/choreographed and did it all with the performance CD (no sing along words!) Way to go guys! The scene/song looks and sounds great. Be sure to practice your scary faces!
Our next rehearsal is this Thursday!
Hope everyone is spending some time with the books and CDs! WE got through the table read and the first group singing rehearsal. We will be rehearsing some of the solo and small group singing numbers coming up! After Easter, we are going to start DANCING! Be sure to bring good shoes! See you soon!
Here is the tentative schedule for our rehearsals. We will only have 2 rehearsals in March. At our first rehearsal, this Thursday, we will read/sing through the whole show. Then, on Tuesday March 20, we will really work on learning some of the big music numbers. I will put people into part groups. The last week of March is tech week for another production, so we won’t have rehearsals. During that time, I would appreciate everyone taking time with the CDs and the books, learning music so we are ready to start dancing in April.
Beginning in April we will have rehearsals for ALL CAST MEMBERS every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:30.
I know this is different than other shows we have done, but this show is different than others we have done. There is a LOT of music in this show, broken up by small segments of dialogue.
Can’t wait to see you all on Thursday!
Please click on the post. It will send you to a spreadsheet that has the cast list. The large names are the full cast. Your name in the third column is the role(s) you will be understudying. Please contact me via email at anngrisez@gmail.com if you have any questions, comments or concerns. I hope you all enjoy the roles you were awarded. I know this is going to be a GREAT SHOW! I can’t wait to see you all on Thursday at our first practice!
These are Edwina’s sisters and brothers.
Katie is Edwina’s younger sister. She doesn’t enter until the last few minutes of the show as she is supposed to be away at Math Olympics. She has a very important role at the beginning as her problem brings about the solution to the whole show. Because Katie does not enter until the end of the show, we will probably have the actress who plays Katie be part of the ensemble in a different costume/hairstyle for the majority of the show.
Myra and Joe are supposed to be Edwina’s older siblings (aged 17-18) and make some appearance onstage but have NO speaking lines. They are really more part of the back-story than real characters in the show. the As per the writer’s recommendation, we will probably have our high school interns fill these roles. This will allow our interns more freedom to move about the set and help the younger kids.
In the song Hola Lola, there are two featured parts with speaking/singing solos. These characters, Harry (or Mary if we cast a female) and Lola have some solo and speaking lines in the song. They will also be acting out the whole song as Edwina sings the main parts of the song. The ensemble will also be featured as Harry/Mary’s friends and family.
Mary Sue Betty Bob and Farmer Jerry are featured roles who sing the song Put it in the Piggy. Marry Sue Betty Bob has some spoken lines before the song and sings the majority of the number. Farmer Jerry mostly has speaking lines during the song. This is a song that teaches kids to save their money. There will also be several featured ensemble members as piggy’s and other farm animals.
Chef Ludmilla and the Fairy Forkmother are featured singers who perform together in the song Ode to Oneida. This is a very difficult piece and requires two talented sopranos for the song. The ensemble will also be featured as pieces of dining ware as the Chef learns to set the table!
Vladmir has one of the most difficult solos in the show. This is a featured role in which there is some dialogue, but is mostly a singing role. Vladmir sings Frankenguest about a very naughty child named Frank (or Frankie if we cast a girl) who misbehaves terribly at a friend’s birthday party.
Frank(ie) is a child who doesn’t behave well at his/her friend’s birthday party. The song eludes to Frank(ie) being quite a monster. Frank(ie) has several speaking lines during the song and offers quite a bit of humor to the show!
Frank(ie)’s Ma is a small feature part during the Frankenguest song. She attempts to explain Frank’s poor behavior.
These are the featured singers/actors in the Say No Thank You musical number. Susie sings this song (with her back-up singers, The Napkins, who will be cast from the ensemble) while the Queen of Boola Boola and Johnny act out the song. Queen of Boola Boola and Johnny have some spoken lines in the song.
There will also be ensemble “waiters” in this number as well!
These 5 are our letter writers in the Dear Edwina Show. Each one has a specific problem for Edwina to help her/him with. These are featured roles as they each consist of a vocal solo song but no spoken word lines. These characters will also be featured in the ensemble numbers.
